A gift in your will

After taking care of your family and loved ones, including the Cancer Society in your Will is a choice that will provide crucial support to cancer patients and their families for years to come.

This kind of generosity means you’ll always be part of something truly meaningful. We’ll also welcome you to the Cancer Society Hope Fellowship so that your generous gift is acknowledged.

How your gift will
make a difference

Every day 71 New Zealanders will hear the words “you have cancer”, and this number is only set to increase.

Not only does the Cancer Society fund life-saving cancer research, but ensures those facing cancer have all the support they need, including counselling, transport to treatment, support groups and much more.

When you leave a gift in your will to the Cancer Society, you help ensure our services can continue to support thousands of New Zealanders for years to come.

No matter the size, a gift in your will can make a life-changing difference to someone’s life.

HOW WE CAN HELP

“It made sense to leave a gift in my will”

In 2019, Ana was diagnosed with invasive triple positive breast cancer, and struggled to come to terms with the diagnosis and multiple treatment options.

“I found the lump myself from doing a self-check. I went to my doctor who referred me to Wellington Hospital where a biopsy was done. It came back as cancer,” says Ana.

During treatment, Ana was able to connect with the Cancer Society.

“The volunteers would come into the chemo ward to assist. They’d offer cups of tea, food, heat pads, and they were good for company and a chat. They gave me some beanies for winter, and I could visit the Kāpiti Centre whenever I needed support. Just the fact that they existed made me feel like I wasn’t alone.”

Like most people, Ana didn’t have a will because she thought she could always “do it later”, but after surviving her cancer diagnosis and purchasing her first home, she realised its importance.

“This was my opportunity to give back to the Cancer Society for all the help I received from them. It made sense to leave a gift in my will to them.”

“Unfortunately, cancer is around the corner, and it may affect you or your family anytime. The Cancer Society is always there to support us, cancer patients and their families, but they need to be supported with their mission too”.
